Compare yourself only to yourself, and only every five years

'Compare yourself only to yourself, and only every five years.' Dalai Lama.

The Easter break is coming up and time away from work inevitably prompts reflection (whether intentional or not);

❓ Do I enjoy my job?

❓ Am I in the right environment?

❓ Is there something else I could be doing?

❓ Where do I want to be in the medium to long term?

These are great questions - as a coach I actually encourage them 😊 - but a word to the wise as your thinking begins: careful of comparison to others as a motivator for change. In our online world, keeping up with the Jones' has never been more competitive or widespread.

Not only is comparison the thief of joy, it also confuses and complicates decision making. The best decisions are based on knowledge of what's important and right for you, and what you're good at. What others are doing, achieving, enjoying is great for them but not relevant to you.

'Compare yourself only to yourself, and only every five years.' Make this your mantra and enjoy more authentic decision making and real pride and recognition of all you've achieved - and are still achieving. 🎖 #change #work #comparison #authenticity #beyourself

Have a great break everyone ❤️
