Do you pay annual bonuses at the end of the financial year?

💰 Calling all businesses who pay annual bonuses at the end of the financial year…

…a proportion of your staff are sitting there waiting for that payment to be confirmed so they can resign. Some of them might be your best performers - and not just in commercial terms.

Don’t sit back and wait for this to happen TO you. The cultural, knowledge and productivity cost of losing good people goes way beyond that of recruitment fees to replace them.

Think about those you really need and want in your business and talk to them. And don’t assume if people are waiting for a bonus payment it’s because they’re driven solely by money.

⭐️ What motivates them?

⭐️ What are they great at…could they be doing more of that in their job?

⭐️ How do they define success?

⭐️ Can they move laterally within your organisation to gain new skills and experience?

⭐️ What would make them want to stay and build their career with your business?

Real retention takes proper time and investment. Make the effort to get to know your people. Have development conversations that go beyond the basics. And remember that what’s important to you might not be what’s important to someone else.
